BE IN THE KNOW:
Pursuant to Memorandum Circular No. 19 dated May 2, 2023 issued by the Office of the President, the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) is ordered to lead the implementation of the 2023 National Crime Prevention Program (NCPP) which operationalizes the strategies for ensuring peace and security under the Philippine Development Plan 2023-2028.
By virtue of Section 14(d) of Republic Act (RA) No. 6975 or the "Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Act of 1990," as amended by RA No. 8551 or the Philippine National Police Reform and Reorganization Act of 1998," the NAPOLCOM has recommended to the President, through the Secretary of the DILG, a crime prevention program developed by the Commission through its Technical Committee on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice, an inter-disciplinary body composed of acknowledged experts from government agencies and non-government organizations involved in the criminal justice system.
To ensure the success of the 2023 NCPP, and in line with the adoption of a whole-of-government approach in addressing criminality, and ensuring peace and security in the country, it is necessary for all government agencies and instrumentalities, and local government units (LGUs) to support and cooperate in its implementation.
